Commercial fish pond construction under Tsirang Dzongkhag…

Under the fund subsidy support scheme of 2019  in collaboration with Dzongkhag Livestock Sector Tsirang, a commercial fish farm having 11 number fish ponds having an average size of 1768 square meters were successfully completed at Tashithang village under Sergithang Gewog on the State Reserved Forest Land (SRF) covering pond area of 19453 square meters (4.807 acres) which is the biggest fish farm in the country.  The farm is estimated to produce (9.7 MT) fresh fish with annual estimated earning of 24 million approximately at the farm gate price of Nu. 250 per kg of fish.

Also, Semi-commercial fish farm having of 2 number of fish ponds  with an average size of 1029 square meters were also successfully completed at Relangthang under sergithang Gewog on the State Reserved Forest Land (SRF) covering total farm area of 0.5 acres.

Similarly, National Research & Development Centre for Aquaculture has plan in place to develop such more aquaculture enterprise in close consultation with other Dzongkhag Livestock Sector for reducing import and to augment fresh fish in the domestic market.
